On the Flap
a thing that is accepted as true or as certain to happen, without proof
They say when you assume that you make an ass out of you and me. Kenton Mayson learned this lesson firsthand when he made assumptions about Autumn Freeman and the kind of woman she is based on what little information he had. What he finds out is she’s not only beautiful, but also smart, funny, a fighter, and exactly the kind of woman he wants to share his life with. Autumn made assumptions of her own about Kenton, and now he needs to prove her wrong in order to protect her and their future.
Assumption follows the story of Kenton Mayson, who we first meet in her Until series, and Autumn Freeman. Kenton was tasked with the responsibility of hiding and protecting Autumn after she witnesses a violent crime. When they first meet, he automatically assumes she is a dumb stripper that lives off of her looks and other special talents and not much else. In turn, she assumes certain things about Kenton based on what little she knows about him.
I was a fan of Autumn from the start. She was my kind of heroine with the right mix of strength and vulnerability. I like the way she would throw caution to the wind with her extreme actions and then feel slightly embarrassed about it afterwards. Growing up with a less than compassionate parent has taught her the importance of being strong and to keep people at arms length. After realizing that his assumptions of Autumn were wrong, Kenton, being the alpha that he is, works hard to break down her defenses in order to make her his. The lengths in which Kenton will go to protect her were on one hand, shocking but the other admirable. He fights to get to know her and fights to keep her. Never resting and never taking the love she offers for granted.
I gave this book a five star rating because I loved the interaction between all the characters and the suspenseful story line that was so exciting that it had me reading from dusk til dawn. I was sad to see it end but happy with the way it did.
