On the Flap
In charming San Francisco, it's Annie's first Christmas with her new husband, and with baby stubbornly refusing to be born, now a week past his due date, nothing could be more exciting for the new couple, or infuriating for the bride. To keep herself busy, she refuses to not work, claiming her bar won't run itself. But late at night, when no one's around, Annie hears someone following her to her car. Christmas Eve brings an unwanted gift of someone from their past, with vengeance on his mind, and soon a manhunt ensues as Annie goes missing, causing the love of her life to pray that Christmas miracles really do exist.
("Christmas Hearts" can be enjoyed as a Stand-Alone.) This Suspenseful Holiday Romance Novel is Available in "Kindle Unlimited"
If you haven’t read the Heart series (which began with Throbbing Hearts), you can still read this as a stand-alone and enjoy it. If you are a fan of the series, than this is your early Christmas present. I have loved the series and more so the characters from the beginning. Annie and Brendan are complex, layered individuals who are realistic with their flaws but still have just enough fantastical to make the stories an escape from reality. Also enjoyable, albeit at times a bit anxiety inducing is the out-of-the-box journey the two had to take. The series had me sealed as a fan when the roommate broke girl code. It made me cringe but I got it. Once the series ended, I was sad and had to go on a bit of a Hearts detox. Then I was surprised mid-fall with Christmas Hearts. It is the cherry on top! It has everything I love about the series wrapped up in one book…just one more adventure.
Annie is now nine months pregnant. She’s still stubborn and refuses to slow down and relinquish her independence just because she has a tiny human growing inside her who is overdue. Her bar is still her baby for now and she treats it as such. With the dust having settled from all the drama with Tommy she can finally feel safe, except she doesn’t. One night while walking to her car, she gets the feeling she’s being followed. Once she arrives at her friend’s bar as a temporary refuge, she just assumes it’s her mind playing tricks on her. If only she’d have listened to her instincts. Next comes a set of circumstances nobody saw coming.
I can’t even tell you how much I loved this one. It brings back nearly all of the previous characters; some have remained the same, while a few have changed and probably for the better. The story is full of love, excitement, even has a twist that’ll throw you for a loop, and then wraps up with an HEA. It’s everything you could want from an extension of the series. It’s worth the read regardless of the time of year.
