Born to darkness in a time when crusades raged between battling faiths, Dominic De’Lessep is taken prisoner of the blood. Cursed for spurning his maker for delivering him to an existence devoid of light, she condemns him to a life alone, where anyone he dared love, dies.
A millennium later, revenge is all he wants, that is until he meets Belinda Force, a fiery student of antiquities who knows him for what he is and what he plans to do.
Perilously drawn to this mysterious stranger, Belinda ignores the danger in his eyes and the icy touch that makes her body burn. She cannot deny her deep connection to the man and his quest or his raging need for her...even if it kills her. Can true love break the curse that’s held him for a thousand years?
Belinda is someone who is ridiculously smart, witty, determined, and down to earth. She has worked her booty off to get where she is at in life and refuses to let anyone try to diminish her strength and intelligence. Her wit is quick and times she left me cackling. Her instant connection to Dominic takes her by surprise and she throws caution to the wind even though there is danger in his eyes.
Dominic is the type of danger that your mama warns you about when you're a little girl. He is a complete mystery you can't help but be drawn into. He can be crass and at times rough, but when you glimpse those his sweet moments they just melt in your mouth. Love was never an option for him before Belinda due to the curse, but now that he's find Belinda can their true love break the curse that has held him captive for over a thousand years?
My connection to Belinda was love at first paragraph. My connection to Dominic was like a slow burning fire. She was easy to connect to from the get go, but Dominic was more of a mystery and it took some time to get to know him. The struggle to connect with him at first made sense for the person he is. He has spent thousands of years refusing to let himself love anyone in hopes that he can protect them from getting murdered. You need to feel that distance at first because he wants you to feel that distance. The more flashbacks you get of him and the more he grows into his relationship with Belinda, the more he starts to open up. Their relationship is both sweet and sultry, fire and ice.
Marianne brings Belinda and Dominic's world to life beautifully and really paints a picture for her audience. There are moments in the beginning of the book that might seem slow for some readers, but I feel like they were done strategically to help create and immerse the reader into their world. Each section of the book felt like it was written with purpose, the slow moments give light to the fast and intense moments. The storyline itself flowed smoothly and not once did it give me any form of whiplash. Each revelation gave a new layer to the story of Belinda and Dominic.
It may have taken a thousand years for Dominic to find Belinda, but I feel like their love was worth the wait. Dominic brings a darkness that Belinda didn't realize she needed, and Belinda brings a lightness to Dominic that he had craved for centuries. If being condemned by these lovely characters is wrong, I don't want to be right.

Give me an alpha male with a woman who aces all forms of sarcasm and I'm putty in you hands -- bonus points if a Reverse Harem is involved. Supernatural esque romance and power plays tend to make my heart go pitter patter. I haven't met a book I wasn't willing to try, so if you've got recommendations email them my way. I'm a foul mouthed makeup addicted with slight wino tendencies.
