Heir to a media empire.
...And my new boss.
I could have impressed him, if not for last month's unforgettable one-night stand.
I left it with more than orgasms and a pleasant memory--namely, his wallet.
Now he's staring me down like I'm the dirt under his Italian loafers, and I'm supposed to take it.
But the thing about being Judith "Jude" Humphry is I have nothing to lose.
Heir to a stack of medical bills and a tattered couch.
When he looks at me from across the room, I see the glint in his eyes, and that makes us rivals.
He knows it.
So do I.
Every day in the newsroom is a battle.
Every night in his bed, war.
But it's my heart at stake, and I fear I'll be raising the white flag.
Jude has fierce dedication and the woman has a backbone for the ages. She isn't afraid to go toe to toe with Célian, even when the entire company is afraid to even breathe in his direction. Jude is loyal to a fault and is willing to challenge anyone when it comes to doing what she feels is right. She's the friend you need when you're having a bad day, and always knows when you're in need of her slipping you a box of tissues and a mini bottle of Jack Daniels. Everything is given her all, even when she's carrying the weight of the world and feels like crumbling to pieces. No matter what is thrown her way she gets back up and straps into her yellow converse ready to face another day.
Célian is the epitome of an alpha-hole, otherwise known as asshole. Everything he does is done with brutal honesty and without fear of hurting anyone's feelings. He strives for his company to exude the integrity he believes the people need. His arrogance is just another facet to his personality, and boy does he have a dirty mouth. Seriously if they gave out Oscars for the Dirtiest Mouth Célian would be the winner every damn time. Underneath his hard exterior is a head full of belief that he is incapable of being loved because everything he touches gets destroyed, in turn this has left him with a cold hurting heart. He never thought he'd be able to thaw his cold heart, but the moment Jude walks into his world she starts to chip away at his icy exterior.
Sometimes when you have a male lead who thinks he is incapable of love, the transition to loving our female lead tends to be unbelievable due to either his heart transitioning too quickly which is unrealistic or the love just doesn't feel real at the end. However, Dirty Headlines takes that delicate notion and shatters it. There were moments where I just wanted to knock Célian up the head because he was too stubborn to realize that his confusing feelings for Jude was love. The hate/lust tension between the two is so damn stormy and burning. Ugh don't even get me started on the power struggle, there are not enough words to describe how delicious it was. The transition into love was gradual and once it hit its peak it was all consuming. The smutty scenes should be in the Guinness Book of World Records for being so damn scrumptious and sexy.
The drama continues to build throughout the story like a soft crescendo, then bam it hits the apex and you aren't sure how our lovers are going to be able to come back from the damage. There comes a moment that feels like there aren't enough colorful converse to accurately describe the ache in your heart over the uncertainty of whats to come for our lovers, but then a small drop in the drama pond creates a ripple affect. Everything starts to fall into place and we come to a resolution that doesn't feel forced, but instead feels like it fits just right.
There will be moments you can't calm down your hormones from all the smutty goodness. There will also be times you want to be Ross from friends bumping your fists at the world. Jude and Célian both felt they were incapable of falling in love, that the they were too broken, but yet they decided to be broken together. Neither of them wanted to fall in love with one another, but in the end that just made their love for each other so much stronger.

Give me an alpha male with a woman who aces all forms of sarcasm and I'm putty in you hands -- bonus points if a Reverse Harem is involved. Supernatural esque romance and power plays tend to make my heart go pitter patter. I haven't met a book I wasn't willing to try, so if you've got recommendations email them my way. I'm a foul mouthed makeup addicted with slight wino tendencies.
