I was an ex-con. A convicted killer. And I knew that’s all anyone would ever see me as. At least I thought so…until I met her…
When recent parolee Bobby Cantrell loses yet another job, he resigns himself to the usual struggle of finding a place willing to take a chance on someone with his past. Then, without warning, a gorgeous blonde careens into his life and everything changes.
Carly Prince. Gorgeous. Untouchable. Everything Bobby could ever want and knows he can never have.
Except, maybe, he’s finally found someone who sees the good inside him, something even he can’t see.
What he can’t do, however, is escape from his past. A past that now threatens to destroy the new life he’s building for himself…and threatens people he’s come to care about. Can he save them, or will he have more blood on his hands?
There are synopsis of stories you read and as strange as the story line or plot may be, you just have a feeling that this is going to be a good book. That it will become one you will put on the book shelf to reread when that reading slump hits. This is one of those stories. Bobby Cantrell is an ex-con who committed murder but was released on good behavior. He had been struggling to make it on the outside. The cycle was always the same find a good job, keep his nose clean and then enviably customers or people in the small towns would find out what he is and he would be let go. He never resisted, he understood the game and he just walked away to find another job. After losing yet another job, he was walking through town and ended up literally running into Carly. She ran into him trying to escape the paparazzi and reporters so prevalent in her life. Without a thought, Bobby stepped in and protected her and helped her get back to safety. Impressed with his ability to not only take care of himself but of Carly, her private security team hired him on. The sassiness of Carly and Bobby’s no BS attitude made them the perfect couple. While they are together for most of the book, they aren't really a couple until further into the story. It's the slow build that keeps you interested.
I loved that this entire story is told in Bobby's point of view. I fell for him instantly. What he thought he actually said. You saw the intelligence there behind the rough exterior. You got to see what Carly discovered and understood why she fell for him so hard. He did not see himself as a hero but at the end of the day, he was.

You can always find me with my nose in my Kindle reading a romance novel starring a tough talking, hard loving alpha male and sassy heroine. For the past six years reading has been my addiction. I am always up for a good read and am excited when I get any suggestions. My other loves are working out and spending time with my hubs, family and friends.
