On the Flap

Fervent is the third book in the Condemned series.

I never imagined things could get worse, but they do. The men who took us show no mercy. They won’t stop until they’ve destroyed Rafe for something he has no memory of, and I’m their weapon of choice.

Tortured and defiled, they make me wish I was back in that cabin where death was favorable to drawing another breath, but our captors can’t break what’s already broken.

What scares me is the madness I see festering inside Rafe. I’ve taken his freedom, his career, his reputation, yet despite all I’ve done, he’s determined to fight for me, kill for me, give everything he is for me.

He’ll even die for me.

NOTE TO READERS: FERVENT is a new adult dark romance with disturbing themes and explicit content, including sexual scenes and violence that may offend some. Intended for mature audiences. Part three of the CONDEMNED series. This is not a stand-alone read! Please begin with TORRENT and RAMPANT, otherwise, FERVENT might not make much sense.

Review

First and foremost, know this is a dark erotic series.  There are no fluffy unicorns, bouquets of roses, or sweet hand holding.  The content in general could include forced drug use, forced sexual situations, violence, death, etc.  Are you still with me?  Okay, so the next thing to know is this is the third book in a four book series.  You’ll need to read Torrent and Rampant first.  Congrats if you’ve made it through one and two, now here’s my review.

I can’t get enough of this twisty series.  Maybe this makes me some kind of nefarious person but I love every crazy second of it and this third book doesn’t disappoint.  I remember back when reading Rampant I thought it had gone a little soft—well relative to the series.  Don’t worry, this one is back on track a particularly perverse but you won’t be able to put it down.

This third part picks up with the abduction of Alex and Rafe.  Someone has taken them and their destination is the worst yet.  There are a couple of surprising reprisals from characters in books past and what is even more shocking is how they are all intertwined.  During their internment, Alex and Rafe have many horrible situations to overcome.  It doesn’t help that he still has his memory loss.  As they suffer at the hands of madmen, they in a warped way begin to grow close in an almost traditional manner.  Fear not, the normalcy ends quickly as his memories return.  Just when you think there’s a chance for them…just when you think they can escape their horrible reality…BAM! Cliffhanger! And now you don’t know but it sure appears to be a bleak future.  This is where I should whine about having to wait until August for the conclusion but I won’t.  Instead I’ll wait with baited breath for Vagrant.

Rating: 4.5 Stars
