On the flap: Ella James, the beautiful, feisty Director of Operations at Coopers’ Treats finds herself immediately at odds with Alexander Shepard, CEO of SBS, Inc. Alex’s company is looking to merge with the financially shaky Coopers’ Treats, but from the moment they met, Alex had this way of getting under Ella’s skin. Alex’s plans for the merger would require Ella to uproot herself from her safe, quiet existence in the bucolic suburban enclave of Brookside and move to the bright lights of Manhattan. For Ella, who lost her hearing at a young age, change wasn’t something she embraced or welcomed freely. She was also reluctant to leave Chase Kramer, her on-again, off-again boyfriend, even though they were currently in the “off-again” phase.
As the merger deadline approaches, Ella finds herself caught between her feelings for two very different men. As she works to see that the merger is completed successfully, her muddled feelings for both men threaten to jeopardize everything she holds dear. Will she finally be able to hear love and make the right choice?
This story features Ella James and Alex Shepard. Ella is the Director of Operations at a small but successful cupcake company and Alex Shepard is the “white knight” CEO from SBS Inc. there to save the company from financial downfall. Ella is one of my favorite heroines to date. She is a smart, strong businesswoman who can tactfully express herself when she is not happy with a situation. Although she is hearing impaired, she does not let that stop her from doing her job. But she also has a vulnerable side when it comes to her personal life. She is just as lost as the rest of us when it comes to affairs of the heart. Alex had a strong presence without being overbearing. He was also good at bringing his point across without being too brash or pushy. Their story kept me reading and reading and reading.
The story and characters were well developed. The only reason why I gave “Hearing Love” four bonbons is because I felt the scenery descriptions went on a little too long. Don’t get me wrong, I like when a scene is set but I don’t need to know about every little thing the character comes upon. Some might like that but I am more of a meat and potatoes type of fan. Set the scene, give me certain descriptions as to where the story is going and give me action. I prefer character and story development rather than scene development.
That being said, I did like the book and recommend it. I will probably pick up another one of Katie Lee’s books because I feel she is a talented writer.
Rating: 4 bonbons

You can always find me with my nose in my Kindle reading a romance novel starring a tough talking, hard loving alpha male and sassy heroine. For the past six years reading has been my addiction. I am always up for a good read and am excited when I get any suggestions. My other loves are working out and spending time with my hubs, family and friends.
