New York Times bestselling author Jill Shalvis brings you a heartwarming tale that could only happen in Lucky Harbor . . .
Wild child Chloe Thompson can't believe how much things have changed. She still can't get enough of her sexy husband Sawyer, but he seems to prefer working to thinking about impending fatherhood. So tonight, a very pregnant Chloe is escaping her troubles at the town Christmas party.
Sheriff Sawyer Thompson hopes surprising Chloe at the party will give him a chance to set things right. But as the snow begins to fall and the wind rages, he wonders whether he can make it back in time. While mother nature conspires to keep Sawyer and Chloe apart, an unexpected arrival will require them to kiss and make up . . . and ring in the happiest holiday Lucky Harbor has ever seen. 13,000 words
We know from previous books Chloe is expecting and now we get to welcome the baby. In this short novella, we’re back in Lucky Harbor for the joyous occasion with a side of good tidings and holiday cheer. I stumbled upon the Lucky Harbor later in the series and immediately fell in love with the not so sleepy bay town. The picturesque place is one I would love to live in and it doesn’t hurt that it’s overloaded with sensitive alpha males.
Hard headed Chloe isn’t dealing well with her last days of pregnancy. She’s swollen up and hormonal all while her husband is off doing extra work assignments away from home. She figures he no longer wants to be with her and is tired of her nagging. Of course her idea of reality might be a bit muddled at this point. Even with Sawyer away, he has his friends and family checking up on her; ensuring she doesn’t do too much. Indubitably Chloe doesn’t take no for an answer. She’s bound and determined to do what she wants and to go to the town Christmas party. Unbeknownst to everyone a heavy winter storm blows in and guess who decides it’s time to arrive…that’s right, the baby.
While the story is somewhat predictable, it doesn’t take away from the heart felt emotions, sweet sentiments, and sassy female lead. I flew through this book in the shortest time possible. Do yourself a favor and take a bit of time to read this touching short story, it give you all the warmth of Christmas sugar cookies minus the calories.
