On the Flap
As the brains behind wedding site TyingTheKnot.com, Callie sees it all: from the ring to the dress, the smiles . . . to the tears. It's that last part that keeps her single and not looking. Getting left at the altar will do that to a girl. But when Callie returns to her old hometown, she finds that her sweet high school crush is sexier than ever. And he makes it hard to remember why she's sworn off love . . .
Tanner is a deep-sea diver with a wild, adrenaline-junkie past—and now his teenage son is back in his life. How can Tanner be a role model when he's still paying for his own mistakes? It's hard enough that gorgeous Callie has appeared in town like a beautiful dream, challenging his best-laid plans to keep his heart on lockdown. Though there's something about being around her again that makes him feel like he can be the man she—and his son—deserve. Little Lucky Harbor holds their past; can it hold a beautiful new future?
This is it…it’s the last book in the Lucky Harbor series. I came into the series midway, but what I’ve loved about it is it’s written as four sets of trilogies but really each book can be enjoyed as a stand-alone.
Callie returns to her hometown of Lucky Harbor to check up on her grandma aka the one and only crazy Lucille. Even after getting her heart broken as a jilted bride, she now makes her living as owner of TyingTheKnot.com. I think for her to deal with all the bridezillas, she must have inherited a bit of Lucille’s wit. For the short-term, she’s renting an apartment in the converted warehouse where her new friends, Olivia and Becca live. And since she’s right on the water, it doesn’t hurt to enjoy some of the scenery especially when it’s the last bachelor in town.
Tanner has always taken chances but done so thinking his sacrifices were for the better good of others. After getting his high school girlfriend pregnant, they married. To support them he joined the Navy and became a Seal. Upon exiting the military he continued to live like a daredevil so he became a diver with the oil rigs. After a near fatal incident, he’s now co-owner and dive master for Lucky Harbor Charters. Following spending much of the past fifteen years employed in far off locals, he’s now getting to forge a relationship with his teenage son.
Because of horrible past experiences with what they thought were life partners, all they seek is short term affairs with no strings attached. Can Callie really not let her emotions get involved when getting busy with her high school crush? Suddenly after all these years, the nerdy girl is getting her football hero. I think this story shows how two perspectives can be very different. She always felt like she had gone unnoticed with her introverted ways when he had always seen her but did nothing because of his own set of circumstances.
I came across the series about halfway through and quickly adopted it as one of my go-to’s for a good time. The stories are sweet, heartfelt, but with love and laughter…and this one is no exception. Callie and Tanner individually are fun characters, full of spunk and brashness, but together they’re charming, witty, and what I think we all want in our romances. This last book not only focuses on Callie and Tanner but their extended families both by bloodlines and friends. It encompasses everything we come to love about the small town. This final installment is filled with mentions of the previous characters. It is a huge send-off to a great series.
