On the Flap
Livy has never known pure desire like this. The gorgeous Miller Hart captivates her, seduces her, and worships her in deliciously sinful ways. He knows her innermost thoughts, drawing her ever deeper into his dangerous world.
Miller will do anything to keep Livy safe, even if it means risking his own life. But his dark history isn't the only thing that threatens their future together. As the truth of Livy's family legacy unravels, an unsettling parallel between past and present comes to light. Her world spinning out of control, Livy finds herself caught between the rapture of an all-consuming love-and a deadly obsession that could destroy them both . . .
We ended Denied with Olivia seeing a woman who is the spitting image of herself but older. This is relevant in the last book but not for a bit. Instead, somewhat surprisingly, the prologue focuses on the mysterious William. The beginning of Unveiled finds Olivia and Miller in New York City. He’s trying to escape his job and protect her but we still don’t really know from whom or to the extent of Miller’s business dealings.
In order to prevent spoilers, I’ll refrain from describing much of the plot line. Instead I’ll focus on Miller and Livy. Olivia is one of my least favorite female leads. I find her to be whiney, childish, and lacking a backbone or loyalty to her only friend. I will say we see her grow some by the end of the book. She seems stronger in her self-awareness and that bleeds over into her relationships. On the other hand, I quite enjoy Miller. While his obsessive mannerisms can be maddening, we also see a sweet, more relaxed side emerge. Perhaps the most surprising part is how many of the secondary characters materialize to be something or to know something than what has been alluded to in the first two books. The knowledge and actions are the driving force for the storyline.
Miller and Olivia must choose to fight for their relationship against innumerable forces. This final installment is about history not repeating itself but you won’t understand until the very end. While I wasn’t impressed with Denied, this last book is everything I love about Jodi Ellen Malpas. It is filled action, drama, romance, and twists you don’t see coming. The cherry on top of this remarkable romance is an epilogue from Miller’s point of view.
