On the Flap
Doug doesn’t realize he’s lonely until he starts to consider Vivian Norton, Brittany Walters’ older sister, as potential dating material. Vivian’s been hurt so many times she’s almost lost count. But meeting Doug Benton at a Walters family gathering gives her hope. He’s gorgeous, sexy, respectful, funny, and caring. Oh, and there’s one other thing.
He’s a Dominant. And she’s about as vanilla as they come.
Just as their budding relationship seems to be going right, one little slip turns things horribly wrong. Doug learns the hard way that love can be found and lost in the blink of an eye – maybe forever. And this time, hope seems lost.
Come back to Kentucky with the Walters Clan and get to know three more of your favorite characters better in this fun and fast-paced spinoff of the Love Under Construction series.
The first two chapters were rough and hugely confusing. They really didn’t even touch on the two main characters. It appears perhaps these chapters were setting up this new spin off series. Once I hit chapter three, I thought man now the story begins. We finally meet Doug and Vivian. They start to pursue once another; at first as a distraction from their broken hearts and later as something real. I couldn’t connect with the characters. At times Vivian appears to be her 36 years and at other times she’s more like 12; I think it is to convey naive but I just didn’t get it. While reading I found sometimes it is difficult to decipher which character is talking.
I made it until about 54% before I called it a good ol’ college try and stopped. Perhaps if I had read the Love Under Constructions series I would have a different opinion. Since this is a spin-off series, I assumed it would be like a fresh start. I have nothing but respect for the author and have always found her to be professional and kind. Sadly, this book just wasn’t for me.
