When I walked in on my girlfriend screwing another guy, I never would have thought I’d be sitting at their wedding less than six months later. But who am I to turn down a night of free food, booze and pretty bridesmaids?
But at the back of the room, at the rejects table, I’m captivated by the woman sitting next to me. She’s gorgeous and smart, and I can’t work out how she’s single. Until I realize she’s the groom’s ex.
This single mother and I are about to turn this wedding into a night our cheating exes will never forget.
Oh Jamison. I fell for Jamison in book one, and was beyond ecstatic when I learned book two would be his story. Ugh this man has such a kind heart and I just want to panda bear hug him and never let go. He’s hardworking, honest, and one of the most patient men. When he decided to go to his ex-girlfriend’s wedding all he expected to get out of it was free food and free booze, but alas what caught his eye more was Elodie … the groom’s ex and baby mama. For Jamison, it was practically love at first sight. He’s more than ready to be all in with Elodie, and welcomes both her and her son into his life with open arms.
Elodie was dreading the nightmare of her ex-husband’s wedding, but alas she couldn’t keep that moment from their son. Begrudgingly she attended the wedding, but didn’t expect the kind-hearted Jamison to sweep her off of her feet. She’s only ever been with her ex and finds it a little jarring to be head over heels for Jamison so quickly. She’s hesitant to jump right in with Jamison because she has to think of more than just her feelings …. she has her son’s to think about. When her ex shows up back on her doorstep she struggles with choosing her heart or sacrificing her happiness to bring her family back together.
The relationship Jamison developed with Elodie’s son stole my heart. He was in no rush to pressure him into a relationship that he was uncomfortable with. He was mindful of his feelings and was honest with him about how he felt for Elodie. It just warmed up my heart so much.
Overall I really enjoyed Jamison and Elodie’s story, it was one of those feel good love stories with a dash of the drama llama. They found each other when they least expected it, but right when they needed each other. That being said, I would have liked their story to play out over a longer period of time. I have a complicated relationship with insta love stories, and it makes it harder for me when there is a child involved. For everything to happen in a matter of weeks felt a little rushed for me and not totally realistic. Jamison’s relationships with both Elodie and her son could have been so much stronger if it would have taken place over a few months. That being said, I’m looking forward to our next stop in the Only You series.
Give me an alpha male with a woman who aces all forms of sarcasm and I'm putty in you hands -- bonus points if a Reverse Harem is involved. Supernatural esque romance and power plays tend to make my heart go pitter patter. I haven't met a book I wasn't willing to try, so if you've got recommendations email them my way. I'm a foul mouthed makeup addicted with slight wino tendencies.
