On the Flap
I'll forge through hell to get back to Rafe, body and spirit broken and bleeding, but I'm unprepared for what I find. He's done what I can't: he's erased eight years of pain and betrayal. I don't know how to bring him back to me, because bringing him back means ripping him to shreds all over again.
RAMPANT is a new adult dark romance with disturbing themes and explicit content, including sexual scenes and violence that may offend some. Intended for mature audiences. Part two of the CONDEMNED series. This is not a stand-alone read.
As a quick recap, Rafe has nearly been killed and now has temporary amnesia. Alex has been kidnapped by her stepbrother, who is so unhinged he makes Rafe look normal. Does Rafe get his memory back? Will Alex survive and escape?
To me this installment felt tame in comparison to the first one. It's strange to say that considering it is filled with dubious consent, no consent, drug use, etc. I know if I was an outsider looking in with no concept of the first book I would think how could this be tame but it felt lighter than Torrent. Here's the thing, I know this series is not for everyone. It is dark, quite dark. However because it is so well written I find it to be intriguing and enjoyable regardless of the uncomfortable scenarios in the plot. It is such a foreign concept that the writing is so manipulative that as a normal person I find some of the situations that occur, and cause and effect, to ordinary and completely acceptable. But I know if I were to just read this as a new story I would be appalled. I can't get enough of this kind of crazy. Sometimes it can be really good to go to the dark side and get away from the happy romances.
