Can the best of enemies become the hottest of lovers? New York Times bestselling author Aurora Rose Reynolds proves that opposites can be compatible—and twice as combustible…
Libby Reed is over it. Or that’s what she tells herself. She’s lusted after one of New York’s bravest for years, but firefighter Antonio Moretti has doused her interest for the last time. As much as she wants the arrogant jerk (in a bad, bad way), they can’t even be in the same room without setting each other off…which might be a problem now that she’s volunteered to help out in his family’s restaurant.
Antonio’s been burned before. Now he knows better than to trust a pretty face and follow another pair of long, beautiful legs into heartbreak. But while Libby might rub him the wrong way, he can’t deny the heat between them. And it only burns hotter when she steps up in his time of need. The closer they get, the more he realizes he may have misjudged her. Then again, he doesn’t know the secret Libby’s keeping that could send their relationship up in flames before it’s even begun.
Libby is such a kind and fun loving soul. I couldn't help but fall in love with her instantly. She is constantly working herself to the bone, not for herself but for those around her. At the beginning she feels stuck in a rut, not sure which direction she wants her life to go. When she receives the news that the couple who owns the pizzeria are in some trouble, she steps up to bat to help anyway she can, even if that means having to deal with their sexy asshole of a son. Libby hoped her crush for Antonio had died out, but it comes roaring back when his jerky facade starts to melt and he shows her his sweet side.
Antonio wanted nothing to do with Princess Libby. He had enough of materialistic women in his life and couldn't wait to be rid of her and the pizzeria. The more Antonio works with Libby the more he starts to realize the assumptions he made about her are horribly wrong. Soon he finds himself trying to dig himself out of the jerk sized hole he's dug himself into with Libby. Can he get Libby to forgive him for his past rudeness, or has he already gone to far to win her heart? He can't lose his Princess, not after he just found her.
You could start a fire with the sexual tension between Libby and Antonio. I would gladly roast myself some smores over that fire, maybe even some weenies. You get a tease of how their sexual tension will combust. Damn it was a good tease, and I promise the combustion is worth the wait. When they start learning more about each other you can feel the emotional connection blossoming between each other. One of my favorite scenes involves that dang kitten. It's so innocent, but it gives you a fresh look at their dynamic as a couple and it pulls at your heart strings. The hilarity that occurs anytime their families are around, even Inez, it's just so dang entertaining. Though I'm intrigued by Mr. Reed's gun collection .... just saying.
I'm prone to falling for the assholes, so I went into this knowing Antonio was going to be right up my alley. That aside, that man is closed off and can overreact. It was almost too jarring. Their big climax was only a soft bruise to my heart and just made me want to throttle Antonio. He needed to grovel more for his asshole antics. Heck I would have loved to see him sit down with Mr. Reed, Levi, and Wesley and get the third degree after all the crap he pulled. I'd buy a front row ticket to that show.
As always with Aurora, the writing was beautiful. It was a nice light read and gave me a few chuckles out of it. Libby is a special kind of woman to put up with Antonio and his temper, but we all put up with the little things when it comes to love. It's not easy. It's hard work. Libby and Antonio can power through it all together. After all, she's his Princess and he's her Asshole.

Give me an alpha male with a woman who aces all forms of sarcasm and I'm putty in you hands -- bonus points if a Reverse Harem is involved. Supernatural esque romance and power plays tend to make my heart go pitter patter. I haven't met a book I wasn't willing to try, so if you've got recommendations email them my way. I'm a foul mouthed makeup addict with slight wino tendencies.
