On the Flap
She knows the rules of the game . . . but she can't resist his moves
Publicist Abby Fields's career is on the rise. And with failed romances in her past, she has no time for men. When a job opportunity opens up with a sports team in Florida, Abby eagerly packs up and heads south. Yet after a work event in Mirabelle, Florida, Abby finds herself in the arms of a hockey player whose heartstopping smile leads her to the steamiest night of her life . . .
Logan James is hot on and off the ice. With his team on an epic winning streak, life couldn't get better . . . until he meets Abby, the fiery redhead assigned to protect his team's image. Now Logan's finding it difficult to concentrate on anything other than getting Abby undressed. But after a secret is leaked to the press, the taste of betrayal opens old wounds. If they can't learn to trust each other, they may risk losing more than their hearts.
I have been a fan of the Country Roads series from the beginning and this novella is no exception. This book can be read as a standalone but the secondary characters will probably be more comprehensible if you’ve read the other books.
We’ve briefly met Abby before but now she gets her own story and deservingly so. She is adorable, independent, smart, and feisty. How can one not fall in love with her? She has recently moved to Florida (although not Mirabelle) for her new PR job with the Stampede.
As a hockey player, Logan is used to being the center of attention on the ice but off the ice he prefers to keep his life private. He’s had heartbreak in his past and now honors the horrible situation by volunteering with hospitalized and ill children with wanting no publicity at all.
Abby has a clause in her employment agreement to not fraternize with the players. This is like an immediate cock block to the chemistry between her and Logan. They keep finding themselves in steamy situations which become harder to stop. They quickly find that what they thought could be just a fling will really never be enough.
This has everything I’ve come to love from Shannon Richard’s books…just a shorter version. The characters are witty and charming. The romance is sweet, yet passionate. I didn’t want this quick read to end.

I have a large appetite for books with pensive alpha males. I tend to lean towards erotica and contemporary romance. I am completely addicted to my Kindle and feel naked when it’s not with me. If you have any recommendations, feel free to email them. I’m a single-ish woman with two crazy dogs. I also love football and basketball. Living in Oklahoma City, my teams are the Thunder and Sooners.
