Merrick Thatcher went through a hell that no one could possibly imagine. He fought to protect his country, his family, and the men standing at his side, but it wasn't just being a soldier overseas that changed him. He watched his friends die in front of him, felt indescribable pain, and lost his sight in the very same moment.
Badly injured, blind, and angry, he's done with war, but now he’s fighting his own battle. So, he’s waiting for it to end, spending his days and nights in a thick darkness no light can penetrate. Until Grace walks into his life and his broken eyes open to a woman that changes everything for him.
A story about two flawed souls finding love amidst the grief. A love that shines vividly, even in the dark, and discovering that sometimes being broken is how the light gets in.
For readers 18+ due to language, violence, and sexual situations.
Vivid, a great title for a great book. The title resonates throughout this story. Vivid is how everyone saw Merrick when he left for the Army and it’s how he saw his future in the military until it was all gone. What was once vivid and bright was now dull and dark until Grace walks into his life. She was literally the girl next door who had a mad crush on the popular guy in school only to be overlooked by him time and time again. Ironic that the girl he didn’t see as vivid in the past was the one who brought color and light back into his life.
Merrick and Grace are two people suffering from the same feelings of hurt and guilt. Merrick feeling like his lack of attention caused the death and injury of the men he served with and Grace feeling like her inadequacies were the cause of the loss she suffers and ultimately the demise of her relationship.
Where Grace was Merrick’s rock to recover physically, he became her rock for her mental recovery. Making her feel like she was beautiful, strong and more than adequate. To see herself as the vivid person she is inside as well as outside.
I can’t end this review without saying that I 100% agree with Jessica about the playlist. Listening to each song as it appears in the story did add a little something extra to it and made you become invested in the characters and their outcome not only as a couple but as individuals. Give them a listen, you won’t be sorry.
If you are looking for story that will pull on your heart strings and make you feel good at the end, this one is for you.

You can always find me with my nose in my Kindle reading a romance novel starring a tough talking, hard loving alpha male and sassy heroine. For the past six years reading has been my addiction. I am always up for a good read and am excited when I get any suggestions. My other loves are working out and spending time with my hubs, family and friends.
